Job Profile

The Maintenance Assistant Manager – Breakdown is responsible for managing the breakdown repair and maintenance of the AWTX manufacturing processes and equipment. This role will require a problem-solving mindset, consensus-building skills, and perseverance to drive projects to completion. The Assistant Manager will report to the Manufacturing Engineering & Maintenance Senior Manager.

Supervisory Responsibilities

The Maintenance Assistant Manager – Breakdown will have direct supervision of the Breakdown Maintenance team, the PM team, and the Dojo Maintenance team.

Main Duties

  • Train and develop group leaders for the breakdown maintenance team, Dojo Maintenance team, and PM Maintenance Team.
  • Lead by serving – go the floor to check the status of a breakdown, direct members to ensure a high-quality repair is completed in a timely manner
  • Manage emergency break-down events on production equipment – understand why the failure occurred, be able to report out status of the production equipment when prompted
  • Drive a culture of problem-solving and thorough root cause analysis among the breakdown team – don’t settle for “good enough”
  • Identify productivity improvements by reducing machine repair time and short stop frequency
  • Responsible for budget management for the breakdown maintenance team
  • Continuously improve the breakdown training program for maintenance members by introducing new methods or technology
  • Drive the improvement of safety, quality, productivity, and indirect material cost
  • Establish and maintain productive and effective working relationships with AWTX team members and Japanese team members

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a Maintenance role in a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a supervisory/managerial role
  • Experience applying root cause analysis to solve problems
  • Experience managing projects in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, gage pins, gage blocks, thread gages, dial indicators, etc.
  • Ability to read mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical drawings
  • Ability to create and give formal presentations to senior leadership

Desired Skills

  • Associate’s Degree or higher
  • IATF Manufacturing experience
  • Prior experience with PLC’s, CNC machining, and robot maintenance
  • Problem-solving mindset, instinct to go see the source of the issue
  • Goal-oriented, self-confident, able to take constructive feedback
  • Understand manufacturing maintenance metrics and how to manage them
  • Ability to coach/teach members to follow department policies and processes
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership and build team member engagement
  • Strong communication skills with peers and staff
  • Knowledge of and prior experience using general measurement instruments
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience in a cross-cultural working environment
