Description
We are looking for an opening manager position at Onigilly Japanese Kitchen in Serramonte Center, which is expected to open soon.

Schedule
- Approximately 50 hours per week; hours may vary with personnel, catering, and promotions.
- Shifts: Morning, Day, and Evening as business requires (including weekends/holidays as needed).

Responsibilities
What You’ll Do
People Leadership
• Lead, coach, and schedule a team of ~10-15 (Assistant Manager/Team Leader + Team Members).
• Assign, oversee, and evaluate performance; recommend promotions, transfers, recruitment, or terminations as needed; conduct written and verbal reviews.
• Ensure clear communication of standards, recipes, and operational updates.
Guest Experience & Food Quality
• Uphold Onigilly’s brand standards for hospitality, speed, accuracy, and cleanliness.
• Monitor prep methods, portioning, and presentation to deliver consistently craveable onigiri and sides.
• Resolve guest concerns and recover service quickly and professionally.
Operational Excellence
• Use checklists (manager, opening/closing, prep) to drive consistency; refine checklists/manuals for clarity and ease of use.
• Coordinate kitchen and line assignments for timely, efficient service and top product quality.
• Maintain compliance with health and fire regulations, personal hygiene standards, equipment care, and company branding guidelines.
Financials & Administration
• Create schedules, monitor timecards, and adjust as needed for labor efficiency and coverage; find coverage during time-off/short-staffed periods.
• Order, receive, and verify deliveries; manage weekly inventory and accurate counts.
• Track budgets and expenses; manage daily P&L using forecasting and cost-management tools.
• Handle cash controls and bank deposits (if applicable).
Facilities & Technology
• Coordinate repairs (equipment, electrical, plumbing, etc.) in partnership with the Area Manager.
• Troubleshoot POS and internet issues with service providers to minimize downtime.
Marketing & Catering
• Support local store marketing, promotions, and restaurant-level catering; plan and execute special orders and events.
Qualifications
What You Bring
• 3+ years of restaurant management experience (required)-quick service or fast-casual strongly preferred.
• Proven ability to recruit, train, schedule, and motivate a high-energy team.
• Strong operational discipline with checklists, food safety, and brand standards.
• Solid cost controls and inventory skills; comfortable with daily P&L inputs.
• Great communicator and problem-solver under pressure.
• Basic computer proficiency (e.g., MS Office) and familiarity with POS systems.
• Have superb communication skills, organizational skills, and problem-solving skills
• Previous food service experience with the ability to oversee food inventory levels and manage costs
• This position requires a high school diploma or GED
• This position requires 1-3 years of previous experience managing a staff or relevant role, ideally in the quick service restaurant industry
• Proficiency in computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office, strongly desired
