Project Overview
Hitachi is seeking a skilled PLC Engineer to support a short-term, high-impact project focused on developing and scaling a hardware-based manufacturing simulator. The simulator will enable AI-driven applications within a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and enhance PLC programs for a hardware-based manufacturing simulator
• Program and configure PLC logic using Siemens TIA Portal
• Develop control logic using SCL (Structured Control Language) and Ladder Logic
• Integrate PLC systems with sensor devices through wired connections
• Support scaling of the simulator to enable AI-based manufacturing use cases
• Collaborate with engineering and AI teams to ensure reliable and accurate simulation outputs

Technical Skills & Requirements

• PLC Programming: Strong hands-on experience with Siemens TIA Portal
• Programming Languages: SCL (mandatory), Ladder Programming
• Hardware Integration: Experience connecting PLCs to sensors and field devices via wiring
• Core Competency for Success: Proven SCL coding capability in Siemens environments

Required Experience

• Prior experience programming PLCs using SCL on Siemens TIA Portal
• Exposure to manufacturing, automation, or industrial control systems is strongly preferred

For California only (as required by California’s Pay Transparency for Pay Equity Act (SB 1162): A good faith estimate of the expected hourly rate for this position in our California office salary range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for the position upon hire is $60- 70 per hour. Pay is determined based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, depth of experience in the practice area. Employees are eligible to participate in Hitachi America’s variable pay program, subject to the program’s conditions and restrictions.
