- General Summary:
Design, coordinate, implement, and maintain improvement modifications to automated manufacturing equipment including robotics, vision inspection systems, PLCs, and custom electronic circuits. - Essential Job Functions:
- Develop and/or modify PLC programs per project requirements.
- Continuously seek improvements in equipment and process performance.
- Work with PE in troubleshooting problems and quoting new projects.
- Build, wire, and install electrical components and panels.
- Machine and assemble mechanical components as necessary per project.
- Attend design review meetings to add input into machine conception and functionality.
- Meet regularly with project managers and engineers to understand the needs and requirements for a new product or mechanical system. May assist with determining components, materials, specifications, and BOM.
- Train customer’s personnel on machine operations and maintenance.
- Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field required, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Experience:
- Greater than four (4) years of relevant experience required.
- PLC programming, mechanics, pneumatics, electronics, and robotic experience required
Personal/Technical Skills:
- Must be able to work flexible hours to support production on all shifts during new product launch.
- Must be able to write operation manuals
- Strong ability to read component, assembly and equipment drawings and blueprints.
- Ability to read and interpret both mechanical drawings and electrical schematics
- Strong organization and planning skills
- Ability to communicate and work well with all levels inside and outside of the organization
- Ability to compile effective and concise visual reports
- Ability to multitask, manage diversity, and facilitate problem solving and resolution
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Effective time management skills
- Ability to work in a fast paced, multicultural work environment
Language Skills:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Japanese, Spanish, and/or Portuguese would be helpful.
Computer/Software:
- Solid working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office and other computer-based applications (e.g., MS Word, MS PowerPoint, Lotus Notes/Outlook, Internet, etc.).
- Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) knowledge required.
- Learn and become accustomed to any new or existing programming software
- Work Environment/Conditions:
Office: Open Office Environment, moderate noise level while performing manufacturing automotive production engineering operations.
Plant: Standard automotive plant environment with moderate noise level. PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as safety glasses, steel toe shoes, hearing protection, etc. may be required in engineering, manufacturing, or industrial areas. Personal attire standards may apply.
Travel: Up to 70% travel required at times to our vendors and plants (Mississippi, Indiana, Michigan, Kentucky, Canada, Argentina, Brazil and Japan).
- Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the team member is required to talk, see, and hear. The team member must be capable of walking, sitting, and standing for extended periods of time. Occasionally climbing or bending on/under injection machines. May be occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds.
