Job Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Public Relations, the Public Relations Mgr. will play an essential role in the continued growth of the Sonic the Hedgehog brand and SEGA’s broader transmedia efforts globally across various businesses, including games, consumer products, animation, and beyond.

The Public Relations Mgr. will support the Public Relations and Marketing team on PR/Communications planning, tactics, content creation, asset development, agency oversight, digital channels management, and community interaction for assigned business areas designated by the team leader. In this position, you will play a critical role in crafting and telling the story of the Sonic the Hedgehog brand to players, media, and content creators. The ideal candidate has a minimum of six to eight years of experience in public relations or communications within the gaming, entertainment, mobile, or consumer product industry and is passionate about games and their players.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with brand marketing, public relations, community, social, and development teams in the Americas, EMEA, and Japan to develop and execute the overarching communication strategy and campaign narrative for the Sonic the Hedgehog brand and SEGA’s transmedia projects.
  • Arrange live or virtual communications events such as hands-on presentations and media tours.
  • Serve as a point of contact for all endemic and non-endemic media contacts throughout NA.
  • Build and execute first-look, hands-on, preview, and review strategies to achieve maximum press coverage.
  • Work with U.S. PR agencies in day-to-day operations to execute breakthrough promotions.
  • Oversee PR assets, including scheduling, creation, approval, and publishing, to achieve pre-set PR beats.
  • Outline, write, and secure approval of press releases, media advisories, newsletters, and other messaging.
  • Analyze and report earned media campaign results, focusing on quantifiable metrics, utilizing PR analytics tools such as LevelUp.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Working in-office is an essential function of this position. This requirement of face-to-face interaction is in place to ensure effective supervision, collaboration, and teamwork. In-office attendance is required for the following reasons:
    • For effective supervision of employees and our work product, which includes ensuring all employees have necessary oversight of their work and access to supervisory assistance, which includes meetings to review work product, deadlines, and status.
    • To foster communication and collaboration among team members, which includes the following: allowing for spontaneous brainstorming sessions and exchanges of ideas, quick access to team members to enable collaborative problem-solving, and stronger cohesion among co-workers and within teams.
    • To enhance the sharing of information necessary to effective job performance and product creation.
    • To enhance understanding of our stakeholders’ work and business needs, facilitate a more seamless and organic workflow, and ultimately increase efficiency and successful outcomes.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 6-8 years of experience in a public relations role. Gaming industry experience preferred.
  • Excellent project management and PR planning skills.
  • Knowledge of the media landscape and competitive products within the gaming industry.
  • Strong verbal, written, and reporting skills.
  • Proficient with Photoshop, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and PR measurement tools preferred.
  • Open to flexible hours while working with overseas teams.
  • Positive and professional attitude.
  • A passionate gamer with deep knowledge of SEGA’s IPs.
  • Experience working with a Japanese game publisher is a plus
Minimum USD Salary: 115,000
Maximum USD Salary: 135,000
