I. General Summary:

Responsible for manufacturing and reporting tasks which include supporting team members in assigned manufacturing areas in the execution of the

group’s responsibilities, as they operate according to customer specifications, following standard work instructions, and conveying parts between

processes. Overall responsibility for safety, quality of work, production and material flow of assigned team members.

II. Essential Job Functions:

A. Supporting production as a team member on the quality processes when necessary.

B. Ensure overtime coverage, when required, is communicated timely and that team members understand their assignments. Assist group leaders to

ensure overtime needs are covered, and the associated policy is consistently applied.

C. Follow standardized work procedures and work sequence for each process.

D. Maintain 5s and utilize TPS (Toyota Production System) techniques, as trained, to standardize process/methods to identify and eliminate waste, and

train, communicate, and support assigned team members regarding the same.

E. Work in a team environment on safety, quality, productivity and cost improvement projects.

F. Complete all working documentation, records and reports as requested. Participate in a manufacturing system and team environment on safety,

quality, productivity and cost improvement projects.

G. Understand all company policies and procedures.

H. Ensure team members follow and understand all standard work procedures associated with each task and all company policies.

I. Support assigned team members to meet production requirements and complete all production information sheets within the required timeframe.

J. Stop, call & wait for all abnormal conditions according to TBA protocol and respond to assigned team members to support any Stop, call, wait from

them.

K. Follow all safety procedures and communicate issues with group leaders and assistant managers.

L. Review and understand previous shift problems, conduct pre-shift checks, and support group leaders in meetings.

M. Follow, understand, and perform required quality checks according to standard work and Quality Alerts. Train, communicate, and support assigned

team members regarding the same.

N. Conducts audits as directed and responds to abnormalities.

O. Troubleshoot machines and follows escalation to group leader.

P. Understand and follow the TB Way philosophy within a team-oriented environment, and train, communicate, and support assigned team members

regarding the same.

Q. Focus on employee relations centered on trust and teamwork.

R. Work on continually improving skills as outlined during evaluation.

S. Attend all required training as outlined on the training matrix.

T. Expected to be completely versed in assigned area and should be able to adequately instruct anyone to perform these duties.

U. Be proactive and reactive to resolve abnormalities in the process.

V. Use Kaizen (continuous improvement) and key performance indicators (KPI) in work areas for the opportunity to make the area or line efficient.

Monitor, update, and track KPI dashboard data.

W. Work towards achieving established group area targets based on direction from group leader.

X. Work beyond the regular schedule, which could include daily and weekend overtime.

Y. Follow safety quality, confidentiality, and information security policies and procedures

Z. Other duties as assigned.

AA. Follow safety, quality, confidentiality, and information security policies and procedures.

1. Maintain training matrix for team leaders and/or team members, assuring training is effective and corrects sub-standard performance.

2. Maintain, plan, and prepare department instruction manuals.

3. Ensure further development of team members through performance evaluation, development of training plans, feedback, coaching, and cascade

training.

AB. Collect, record, and analyze information while maintaining documentation regarding the activities in the assigned area as defined by company

policy, procedure, or practice.

1. Prepare business reports and spread sheets of required data.

2. Maintain specified records, files and logs of department/shift activities such as production, production problems, parts shortages, scrap, quality,

maintenance, etc. (manual and computer) as required. Perform other various administrative duties.

3. Monitor and maintain team member time, attendance, and training records.

AC. Communicate frequently with internal contacts on various issues.

1. Through daily communication meetings, keep team members informed on issues relevant to them and encourage two-way communication.

2. Maintain daily and/or frequent communication with upstream and downstream groups/areas and support departments to ensure efficient and

stable operations in a team-based environment.

3. Coordinate communications between shifts for assigned area(s).

Functional (Quality Control)

  1. Support the Quality Manager and overall plant quality system.
  2. Establish and maintain quality standards that meet or exceed customer requirements.
  3. Communicate customer or supplier quality issues to manufacturing, production control, and quality control departments.
  4. Initiate effective containment and investigation activities to prevent further quality problem/defect outflow in-house and to customer.
  5. Effectively communicate with customers and/or suppliers to resolve quality problems.
  6. Investigate and countermeasure internal quality defects to improve plant processes.
  7. Ensure proper quality processes and procedures are followed and maintained plant wide.
  8. Work with all departments and all levels of management to promote quality.

III. Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED, preferred.

Experience:

  • One (1) to three (3) years of experience relevant manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.

Personal/Technical Skills:

  • General manufacturing and industrial equipment knowledge are preferred.
  • Ability to use diverse hand tools and equipment.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with multiple departments and all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multicultural work environment.
  • Strong organization, time management, and planning skills and ability to manage multiple tasks with tight deadlines.
  • Active listener with effective leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to consistently show and maintain professionalism.
  • Ability to work with a dynamic team and demanding customer(s).
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Ability to plan, direct, assign, and perform functions of assigned areas.

  • Must be able to work a fixed or rotating shift schedule, including daily or weekend overtime.
  • Ability to follow and implement plans to maintain safety, quality, 5S, cost, and efficiency for assigned areas.
  • Thorough understanding of company products, trade terminology, manufacturing processes, and machine/equipment operation.
  • Basic math and good communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze design proposals, diagnose issues, deliver effective feedback and suggested countermeasures.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and blueprints, schematics, drawings, specifications, and technical instruction manuals.

Language Skills:

  • Verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Japanese and/or Spanish is a plus.

Computer/Software:

  • Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office and other computer-based applications (e.g., MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet, etc.).
  • Previous experience working with integrated computer programs and/or applications. ERP System experience (e.g., Oracle) preferred.

IV. Work Environment/Conditions:

Office: N/A.

Plant: Standard automotive plant environment with moderate noise levels, flashing lights, alarms/notification systems, and sharp metal objects, etc. PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as safety glasses, steel toe shoes, hearing protection, heat protective gloves and sleeves, etc. may be required in engineering, manufacturing, or industrial areas. Personal attire standards may apply. Involves moderate or occasional presence of some slightly disagreeable conditions, i.e., cold, dust, heat, odor, etc.

V. Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is required to talk, hear, and see (with visual acuity). Performance requires mental alertness and sustained attention to needs of the department in terms of workflow, efficiency of operation, machine adjustment, and team member output. Performance requires physical ability to inspect, adjust, and operate equipment. The team member must be capable of walking, sitting, and standing for extended periods of time throughout plant. Occasionally climbing, stooping, or bending on, under, or near tooling and equipment. May be occasionally required to reach, grasp, and manipulate parts, materials, or equipment. The team member must regularly lift twenty to thirty pounds and occasionally lift and/or move over thirty pounds with the assistance of a cart, pallet jack, other mechanical device or another team member.
