Position Summary:
The Retail Merchandising Manager plays a pivotal role in connecting corporate strategies with in-store execution at Uwajimaya. This individual contributor position is responsible for leading and coordinating merchandising initiatives across all store locations, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and a high standard of visual presentation.Working closely with Category Management, Marketing, and Store Operations teams, the Merchandising Manager develops store-facing plans, drives the implementation of company merchandising standards, and shapes the customer experience through thoughtful presentation. This role requires regular presence at both the corporate office and in stores, partnering with Store Directors, Assistant Store Directors, and Department Managers to align goals, drive performance, and elevate execution.
Position’s Key Responsibilities:
- Own and coordinate store merchandising efforts, including end caps, satellite displays, and runway usage, ensuring full alignment with company standards and goals.
- Lead the planning and execution of merchandising strategies for special events and bi-weekly advertisements (ADs), ensuring timely implementation and optimal product visibility to drive sales.
- Assist stores with the implementation of Planograms and reset coordination, ensuring consistency across locations.
- Ensure marketing materials, signage, and layouts are implemented correctly with brand alignment across all locations.
- Serve as a key liaison between store teams and corporate departments (Category Management and Marketing) to facilitate clear communication, timely execution, and cross-functional alignment.
- Support category managers with in-store merchandising of key assortment areas and adjacencies.
- Monitor and support marketing and merchandising compliance in stores; provide guidance and feedback to Assistant Store Directors and Store Directors as needed.
- Support the Director of Retail Operations with special projects and initiatives related to merchandising and retail presentation.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Category Management teams to help shape signage and marketing standards-providing input on structure, clarity, and placement to improve customer navigation and overall in-store experience.
- Other duties as assigned.
Starting Pay: $78,000 annually, Depending on Experience + Bonus Opportunity: Target of 10% of base salary
Salary Range: $78,000 – $95,000 annually

Qualifications
Position Requirements:
- 3-5 years of experience in merchandising, preferably in retail, grocery, or marketing.
- Familiarity with Asian food and merchandise; knowledge of Asian products strongly preferred.
- Reliable transportation and flexibility to travel to store locations as needed.
- Japanese language skills a plus.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with store leadership and corporate teams.
- Experience with Planograms and visual merchandising standards.
- Meticulous attention to detail in product placement, signage, and promotional execution.
- Experience training or coaching store staff on merchandising standards.
- Customer-first mindset with a passion for enhancing the in-store shopping experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and internet-based tools.
