This opening is for an experienced semiconductor memory test Product System Application Engineer, working on the leading-edge technology, to provide semiconductor memory test solutions and technical leadership in support of key semiconductor customers in the growing protocol memory industry. This position is based in San Jose, CA. You will lead complex customer technical projects including benchmark, pre/post sales activities and help define/validate new product solutions by working closely with our Sales, Marketing, R D and Regional Field SE Team. The duties include working closely with internal peers as well as customer engineers to support developing test solutions of memory system level test (SLT) such as PCIe and/or UFS and driving consensus on technical directions/test methodologies. Success in this role entails test program development and debug, ATE (Automatic Test Equipment) to test semiconductor devices system programming guidance, and providing application guidance to customer and peer engineers. To have a high impact on Advantest’s success, the candidate must be capable of setting and adjusting task priorities based on rapidly changing customer needs, defining task closure strategies, guiding customer engineers on best practices, and executing in a team environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide protocol memory test solutions such as PCIe and/or UFS storage system level test to customer within acceptable quality, cost and delivery time and solve the testing challenges and problems.
  • Promote new solution, run benchmarks on Advantest test systems such as T5800 series as well as providing pre post sales technical support to the regional field SE team located worldwide.
  • Research and keep up to date with new protocol and industry standard specifications and help define and validate new system HW/FW/SW features by working closely with Customers, field SE, Marketing and R D team.
  • Develop and maintain sample test programs (PCIe/UFS) to demonstrate system level test features on T5500.
  • Provide technical expertise analysis to help debug, reproduce, narrow down and resolve customer issues.
  • Develop trainings/application notes/papers and deliver technical presentations to customer and worldwide regional SE team.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • BS or MS in Electrical/Computer Engineering or equivalent is required. Minimum GPA of 3.00 out of 4.00.
  • Demonstrated experience in C, C++ and Perl/Python programming
  • Demonstrated experience with Protocol analyzer and Oscilloscope
  • Experience in user test program development for protocol memory system level test or complex ATE Test System.
  • Experience with Device/HW/SW characterization and defect analysis, requiring strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Experience with collecting and documenting requirements of new HW/FW/SW features.
  • Understand basic semiconductor chip technology, roadmap and its assembly and test value chain.
  • Ability to manage small projects, demonstrate teamwork, collaborate across functions and share current status of projects. Open minded.

  • Proactive, self-disciplined and highly motivated to keep yourself competitive.
  • Possesses one of followings in recent 5 years:
    • More than 3 years of experience in development/support/testing of protocol memory such as NVMe/PCIe, UFS.
    • More than 3 years of memory device ATE product support experience as an application engineer in ATE companies.
    • More than 3 years of extensive NAND flash memory or DRAM memory chip testing experience for production, validation, qualification or characterization using memory ATE.
    • Self-starter; self-motivator; willing to do what it takes to get the job done.
  • Additional Skills Preferred (but not required):
    • Knowledge in PCIe/UFS controller and MCP manufacturing test steps.
    • Japanese, Mandarin, Korean as verbal, writing, reading language is a big plus.
    • Advantest memory test system operation skill.
    • Having any customer interfacing experience.
