Job Description:
The Senior Business Systems Lead – Operations, is a critical partner to the Executive Vice President Operations and Sustainability (EVP Ops), providing high-level coordination, communication, and organizational support across a fast-paced, multi-site global operational environment. This role blends executive assistance, operational insight, and technical fluency – ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of structure, communication, and execution.
The person in this role will help bring clarity to complexity, create order in a fast-moving environment, and ensure the EVP Ops and General Managers remain aligned on priorities, decisions, and progress. With strong executive presence, excellent communication skills, and an understanding of mining or engineering-related terminology, this individual will elevate the EVP’s effectiveness and strengthen operational cohesion across the organization.
This is a hybrid role with two days per week in the office and occasional travel with the Operations team.
The Day to Day:
Executive Support & Operational Partnership
- Serve as a trusted coordinator and operational partner to the EVP Ops, ensuring priorities, workflows, and communications are organized and executed effectively.
- Maintain awareness of ongoing initiatives, deadlines, and cross-functional dependencies to keep the EVP Ops informed and prepared.
- Manage a dynamic calendar, coordinate multi-time-zone meetings, and make informed decisions about scheduling, sequencing, and preparation.
- Arrange for meeting rooms, food/beverages, lunch reservations, etc., as necessary.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work closely with General Managers and the executive team to gather updates, track commitments, and drive accountability across locations.
- Facilitate clear, consistent communication between the COO and operational leaders, ensuring expectations and decisions are conveyed accurately.
Technical & Industry-Informed Support
- Apply working knowledge of mining operations, engineering terminology, and project management concepts to interpret information and anticipate needs.
- Support the COO in preparing for technical discussions, operational reviews, and cross-departmental initiatives.
Reporting, Analysis & Presentation Development
- Consolidate complex updates into concise, executive-ready reports and summaries.
- Analyze operational data, identify trends or gaps, and translate insights into polished presentations, dashboards, and briefing materials.
- Produce high-quality internal memos, executive summaries, board-level materials, and email communications.
Meeting Planning & Collaboration Technology
- Set up and optimize virtual meeting environments, ensuring seamless communication across geographically dispersed teams.
- Troubleshoot collaboration tools and serve as a resource for virtual meeting best practices.
- Set up and organize annual meeting events ensuring smooth, engaging experience for global leaders.
- Coordinate and manage several corporate events, including the Holiday party, State of the Company, out-of-state sales conferences, and various other annual events
Decision Support & Preparation
- Prepare well-structured options, recommendations, and briefing materials for the COO.
- Make operational or presentation-related decisions independently while reserving strategic decisions for the COO.
Process Improvement & Structure Building
- Help bring order to a fast-paced global environment by introducing structure, improving communication flows, and supporting more collaborative operational rhythms.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes and enhance organizational efficiency.
Professionalism & Confidentiality
- Represent the COO with strong executive presence, discretion, and professionalism in all interactions.
- Handle sensitive information with the highest level of confidentiality.
Travel & Onsite Support
- Travel occasionally with the COO to support meetings, site visits, or operational reviews.
- Arrange all phases of travel for the EVP, Senior leadership team and maintain records, itineraries, and travel credits
- Responsible for all-expense report-related activities, such as receipt collection and follow-up, preparation and submission of expense reports, and corporate credit card billing reconciliation
- Maintain a hybrid schedule with two days per week in the office.
Is this you?
- Experience supporting senior leaders in operations, engineering, mining, or a related technical field.
- Strong understanding of engineering terminology, project management concepts, and operational workflows.
- Exceptional writing skills, with experience producing executive-level communications and presentations.
- Proficiency with data analysis, reporting tools, and presentation software.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, reactive environment.
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and executive presence.
- Ability to build strong relationships across all levels of the organization
Preferred
- Experience in mining, heavy industry, or engineering-driven environments
- Familiarity with project management platforms and collaboration tools.
- Prior experience coordinating across multiple locations or business units.
For applicants residing in Colorado, the salary range for this role is from $130,000-$150,000. Benefits: 401(k); medical/dental/vision insurance; employee share purchase plan, PTO, and STI.
