OBAYASHI CORPORATION is seeking qualified candidates with experience in Heavy Civil and Underground Construction to fill a lead role as a Senior Electrical Superintendent providing support for our heavy civil construction and tunnel projects, including planning, scheduling, benchmarking, logistics, and overseeing production staff on projects in North America. This position requires regular travel to various construction jobsites across the United States and Canada.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Planning and layout of the project’s electrical infrastructure in compliance with the NEC and OSHA.
- Identifying and procurement of equipment and materials in a cost-effective manner.
- Coordination with the project schedule and budget to ensure the timely advancement of the project from an electrical perspective.
- Coordination with vendors and suppliers of electrical equipment and project equipment to ensure compliance and compatibility.
- Engage with all related work such as Lighting, Grounding, UG & Surface Communication Systems, IT systems, Fiber Optic networks, CCTV systems, as required.
- Ability to provide on-site training for the workers, both electrical and construction trades, as needed for daily tasks and any specialized training such as NEC, NFP70e, OSHA, medium voltage installations, and maintenance of electrically powered equipment utilized by the project.
- Engagement with the estimating group for the development of material and equipment buyout requirements and power consumption estimates.
- Support for the safety department in the development of safety plans, procedures, and JHAs related to electrical items.
- Plan for construction activities related to electrical equipment.
- Support and oversight for TBM assembly, installation, testing, commissioning, and production performance.
EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE:
- 10+ years of experience in the electrical construction industry at the trainee or wireman level
- 5+ years of experience at the foreman level or above
- 3+ years of experience in the Mining or Tunneling industry
- 2+ years of experience working with High-Powered Tunneling Machines
- Experience with complex electrical systems, controls, and troubleshooting
- Ability to lead and direct Electrical personnel in the work assigned
SKILLS:
- Proficiency with computer programs such as Office, Adobe, Excel, Word, Teams, and CAD.
- Ability to work with PLC Programming platforms such as Siemens, GE, and Allen-Bradley.
- Effective oral and written communication skills are required.
- Knowledge of heavy civil construction principles, with the ability to read plans and specifications.
- Attention to Detail and the ability to recognize discrepancies.
OTHER:
- The primary work environment is project site work, including the tunnel and tunnel boring machine, and the project site office environment.
- This position requires up to 75% travel across the United States and Canada to oversee and manage on-site electrical operations for Obayashi’s projects.
- A valid driver’s license and a Passport will be required.
- Able to work after hours, weekends, and on call when needed.
- Ability to walk and work on outdoor construction job sites.
- Ability to lift and/or lift up to 40 lbs.
