    Position Summary:
    Yamaha Motor Manufacturing Corporation (YMMC) has an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Senior Design Engineer to join the
    LLV PD (Low Speed and Light Vehicle Product Development) team in Engineering in Newnan, GA.
    The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will be a leader and a key part of the LLV PD team to achieve specific targets for the Low
    Speed Vehicle, Golf Car, PTV (Personal Transportation Vehicles) and Light Utility product lines.
    The Senior Design Engineer leads mechanical, structural, body and interior design to achieve specific design and development targets for LLV regarding function, performance, durability, cost reduction, ease of manufacturing among other factors, through engineering study and creating vehicle system, specification sheet, 3D CAD models, 2D CAD drawings and BOM.

    Further summary of the position:
    • Develop new vehicle components, body sections and structural parts that improve the performance of products and take advantage of advances in technology and automotive industry.
    • Follow the internal development process and submit the deliverables.
    • Manage schedule, cost, and quality of relevant design components and subsystems to meet project milestones.
    • Participate as individual contributing member of individual projects’ cross functional team to ensure a quality product is developed on schedule within targeted cost.
    • Perform root cause analysis with standard root cause analysis industry tools.
    • Improve the Product Development process and follow Quality Assurance process.

    Responsibilities

    Job Responsibilities:
    • Lead design and development of mechanical/structural/body/interiors scope for LLV projects.
    • Manage mechanical/structural/body/interiors system(s) design with industry design tools like DRBFM
    • Complete mechanical components and system design and integration of assigned vehicle section on-schedule.
    • Create and release 3D models and fully detailed 2D drawings in support of assigned project subassemblies and installations.
    • Prepare engineering release documentation that defines part number, effectivity, and usage.
    • Provide deliverables on-schedule as directed by management, other engineers, or project managers.
    • Participate as individual contributing member of cross functional team to ensure a quality product is developed on schedule within prescribed cost.
    • Perform or manage analysis of market claims and determination of countermeasure specification.
    • Collaborate and give technical guidance and direction to domestic and oversea suppliers.
    • Communication with company headquarter in Japan.
    • Self-task management to meet the task schedule.

    Qualifications

    Education / Experience:
    • BS degree in engineering, mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, or relevant field.
    • 5-10 years’ experience with mechanical/structural/body/interiors/electromechanical components and system design preferably in automotive industry.
    • Operate 3D solid CAD system (Siemens NX) or other similar CAD design software for components and assemblies at an advanced to expert skill level.
    • Broad but proficient skills to use Microsoft Tools, basic IT skills to perform job requirements.
    • Demonstrated engineering leadership and stewardship (lead component/assembly design throughout development lifecycle) of design.

    Other Required Skills:
    • Have a positive attitude, with a growth mindset and an ownership mentality.
    • Experience and ability to convert wants and needs into product and design requirements for automotive systems primarily mechanical in nature.
    • Basic to intermediate knowledge of automobile technologies.
    • Broad knowledge and design experience of principles regarding mechanical engineering and mechanical design.
    • Broad knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials for both production and prototype quality.
    • Broad knowledge of technical problem solving and root cause analysis.
    • Ability to apply basic mechanical engineering knowledge to real world vehicle design.
    • Proficient written and verbal communication ability.
    • Ability to perform and lead others with engineering job responsibilities and deliver on time without constant or close oversight of superiors.
    • Ability to visualize and plan multiple technical assignments 1-6 months out into future.
    • Ability to conceive countermeasure plans for technical challenges.

    Preferred Skills:
    The following skills will be additionally great to have in this role but not required:
    • Japanese language knowledge
    • Automotive component or assembly level design experience
    • Lithium-ion battery integration experience
    • Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of mechanical requirements or constraints
    • Plastic molding design for automotive components and assemblies (highly

    preferred)
    • Broad knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials for both production

    and prototype quality.
