Job Description
U. S. Steel is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Summer Intern to support its Global Mobility team within the Human Resources organization. This role will focus on enhancing the experience of Japanese expatriates in the United States (internally referred to as “Dispatchers”) while contributing to key HR initiatives and operational improvements.
This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in global mobility, cross-cultural HR support, and broader HR functions, including compensation, benefits, payroll, corporate HR, and HR analytics.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the administration of the Global Mobility program for Japanese Dispatchers in the U.S.
- Assist in evaluating and documenting current processes, identifying opportunities for improvement, and helping define standardized procedures
- Develop and analyze surveys to assess Dispatcher satisfaction and identify areas to enhance program effectiveness and service delivery
- Provide day-to-day support to Dispatchers, helping address questions and coordinating with internal stakeholders as needed
- Collaborate with cross-functional HR teams to ensure a seamless employee experience
- Contribute to special projects related to global mobility, employee experience, and HR operations
- Prepare reports, presentations, and documentation to support program improvements

Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- Fluency in Japanese (spoken and written) required
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively across cultures
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); familiarity with survey tools is a plus
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Interest in global mobility, international HR, or expatriate management
- Previous internship or project experience in HR or business-related roles
- Experience working or studying in a multicultural or international setting
