SUPPLIER QUALITY ENGINEER
Location: Sharonville Ohio Location
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supplier Quality Engineer responsible for a broad variety of components for Fuel Delivery, Tubing and Fan/Fan Drive systems
- Assure quality aspects are considered in all design phases whether design is developed internally or externally. Application of advanced product quality planning into all phases of proposals, development, procurement and receipt/field implementation for GDI & ECFD parts suppliers
- Review technical definition, validation planning and test results working with Engineering and provide necessary inputs related to quality
- Drives performance and continuous improvement and collaborates in supplier development programs.
- Conduct supplier on-site quality activities, assuring supplier understanding and compliance with APQP processes and product PPAP submission and approval requirements;
- Define and conduct production part approval process (PPAP) for all GDI & ECFD parts. Lead problem solving efforts in a technical way.
- Perform on-site audits to check capability, processes, control plan, etc.
- Obtain, review and approve all supplier quality documentation including but not limited to PFMEA, Control Plan, PSW, needed during a component development process and throughout the component production life. Maintain proper records within Usui systems;
- Conduct quality audits to approve new suppliers identified by the purchasing department;
- Coordinate the qualification and approval of suppliers, in cooperation with Purchasing, Engineering and Quality Assurance, and plan and execute Supplier Audits including follow up of audit measures.
- Establish and communicate supplier performance goals and measure and report on results in a regular basis to key stakeholders and management.
- Manage the quality performance of all production suppliers;
- Work with suppliers for continuous improvement plans.
- Measure and improve parts quality by utilizing the PDCA cycle, providing technical assistance in developing a robust quality system, or other technical support as required;
- Compile supplier failure data from incoming inspection, in-process, customer and field returns to maintain supplier performance trends & reports.
- Manage supplier corrective from SDR (Communicate, 8Ds, evaluate proposed responses, and approve)
- Work with plant QE/QA to manage supplier corrective actions (evaluate responses, and approve supplier corrective actions);
- Validate incoming inspection and control plans. Support incoming inspection when technical or priority issues arise.
- Manage Material Review Board (MRB). Evaluate and disposition non-conforming material
- Determine root cause of supplier manufacturing problems and implement timely, effective, and efficient quality resolutions;
- Evaluate the need for containment actions, including controlled shipments due to quality issues;
- Coordinate interaction between supply base and plant QE to create/modify incoming and final inspection standards.
- Review ECRs or DMRs (engineering change requests or design modification requests) and supplier PCRs (product change requests) for QA action.
- Continuous to develop and/or improve Supplier Quality Manual according to Usui and Automotive Quality standards.
- Identify high risk and critical-to-quality suppliers and establish quality control approaches.
- Create/modify incoming inspection standards, final inspection standards and perform 1st article inspection
- Create customer documentation as required
- All other duties as assigned by management
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering–Quality or related career field
- IATF 16949 & ISO/TS 16949 working knowledge/experience to perform 3rd party audit
- ASQ CQE level certification is helpful
- Moderate to advanced knowledge of automotive OEM structure (Ford, Honda, GM, Nissan and others)
- 5 or more years’ experience in Quality Engineering and/or Design/Product Development Engineering in the automotive industry
- Able to inspect precise machined components, manipulate a variety of complex products and accurately discern dimensions, and product specifications
- Ability to analyze problems, work independently as well as in a team environment, and organize and execute multiple tasks
- Ability to communicate well with excellent oral and written skills. (Japanese language, a plus)
- Proficient in standard MS office PC/software applications. Knowledge of MRP Plex (a plus)
- Traveling domestic/international is expected
