This is a part-time position at our Clearwater location requiring prior sushi experience, including strong proficiency in preparing sushi rolls, nigiri, and sashimi.
Position Title: Sushi Chef
Kobe Ichiban Japanese Steakhouse is seeking exceptional candidates to join our service team. We are searching for friendly, energetic, highly motivated individuals who will thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented restaurant environment.
As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for preparing a variety of sushi dishes, while maintaining strict standards of hygiene, food safety, and quality, and ensuring guest satisfaction through your dynamic and courteous service.
Key Responsibilities (but not limited to):
- Routine cleaning, setup, and breakdown of the sushi bar and sushi area
- Preparation of sushi ingredients according to recipes and quality standards
- Interacting with guests at the sushi bar to take special requests and customize orders, and accommodating dietary needs and preferences
- Delivering sushi orders to guests at the bar and sushi bar area
- Maintain impeccable cleanliness and organization of the workstation, tools, and equipment
- Assist with inventory management and request necessary supplies while minimizing waste
- Working effectively with the other kitchen staff and front-of-house teams to ensure smooth service and clear communication
Skills and Qualifications:
- Demonstrate integrity, respect, hard work, teamwork, and a positive attitude values
- Ability to work collaboratively and communicate efficiently as a team
- Experience with Japanese cuisine, particularly sushi-making techniques are a plus
- Strong knife skills and presenting dishes to a high standard
- Professional and courteous communication skills
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods and have continued use of hands, fingers and arms
- Ability to continuously bend, reach, twist and carry; and lift and move up to 50 lbs
- Availability during the evenings, weekends and holidays preferred
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Ensure compliance with food handling regulations and company standards
