Prepares miso soup, cutting vegetables, cleaning & cutting fish, preparing sashimi, maki rolls and nigiri sushi. Prepares and arranges the food to make an appealing arrangement for guests. Assures that guests have a favorable dining experience.
Responsibilities
Where You’ll Make an Impact:
- Preparing and maintaining the temperature of the items.
- Seasoning and garnishing food.
- Preparing all soups and sauces.
- Cleaning and cutting fish, preparing sashimi, maki rolls and nigiri sushi.
- Keeping the cooking area clean and in an orderly state.
- Maintaining inventory and ordering food items on a daily basis.
- Ensure the safety and security of employees and guests.
- Monitor and adjust performance to local competition as warranted.
Skills to Help You Succeed:
- Ability to:
- Use all kitchen equipment and appliances
- Read and write basic instructions in English
- Read and interpret production lists, menus, and banquet event orders.
- Complete accurate record-keeping
- Communicate in English and fluency in either Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese or other Asian Languages.
- Knowledge of sanitation and health department regulations for safe handling of food
- Creativity in cooking and food preparation.
Qualifications
Must-Haves:
- Culinary arts courses or the equivalent experience.
- One (1) – three (3) years’ experience as Sushi cook at a Sushi Bar.
- You will be exposed to an alcohol and smoking environment and must be able to work in such environment.
- Must have the ability to secure and maintain licensure as required by Louisiana Gaming Control Board or any other applicable regulatory entity as may be required to perform assigned duties, or as required by Live’s operating standards.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for long periods of time without sitting or leaning.
- Ability to bend, stoop and reach while carrying food product, equipment, trash/waste weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to lift, carry, deliver food items weighing up to 50 pounds throughout a scheduled shift.
- Ability to work around 500 degree ovens and work within 40 degree walk-in refrigerators.
- Ability to stand and walk continually throughout a 10 hr. shift.
