Established in 1926, Mutual Trading Co., Inc. was originally a small co-op organization for centralized purchasing of basic import foods to service the needs of the early Japanese immigrant society in Southern California. We’ve grown nearly 100 years old now, and command a premiere position among Japanese foodservice suppliers, as well as fill a key role as “Culinary Ambassador” promoting Japanese foods worldwide. Currently, we import, manufacture, and distribute over 7,000 Japanese foods, beverages, restaurant equipment and supplies.
We are looking for experienced warehouse coordinator. In this important role, you will be responsible for performing warehouse functions. You will work in a collaborative and growth-oriented environment that continuous progress is highly regarded.

Essential Job Functions
- Coordinate daily activities with workers who are engaged in receiving, shipping, order picking, loading, unloading, transporting, materials handling, order filling, and maintaining stock in the warehouse.
- Review shipping documents and direct movement of materials and products to an office, department, and other areas.
- Oversee storage of items, inventory records, and distribution of materials.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of warehouse operational procedures, develop work schedules, and assigns work to warehouse subordinates.
- Analyze work processes and recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product or service.
- Prepare work orders for equipment repairs and requisitions for replacement of equipment.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare, submit required paperwork and ensure data is updated in warehouse management systems.
- Inspect received products for damage and volume accuracy and documents accordingly.
- Assist with loading and unloading trucks as needed.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, or other warehouse equipment as needed.
- Screen and provide input on hiring warehouse personnel.
- Assist to train, evaluate employee performance, and recommend or initiate promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action.
- Assist to plan and arrange semiannual inventory count on designated day, possibly on a weekend.
- Adhere to Company attendance policies and designated work schedule to keep consistent and reliable attendance.
- Attend Company events and functions outside of normal working hours.
- Other duties as required from manager.
- Obligation to answer to all management as requested.
Physical Requirements
- Able to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to talk, hear, climb, balance, reach, bend, kneel, and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds frequently.
- Ability to handle and move up to 165 pounds assisted frequently.
- Able to drive for a majority of the daily working hours (secondary).
- Working Conditions
- Noise Level: Normal to loud
- Location: Indoor in the warehouse
Other Requirements
- Business level English – Read/write/speak/listen.
- Other language such as Spanish, Korean, Japanese preferred.
- Has a valid driver license and a clean driving record.
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and afterhours as needed.
- Must be able to drive stand-up reach forklift and sit-down forklift.
- Maintain a positive attitude.
- Work efficiently both independently and in a team.
- Adapt to frequent changes in assignments and workload.
- High School Diploma required; Associate’s Degree and above strongly preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of progressive warehousing experience required; 5+ years preferred.
Knowledge and Skills
- Possess intermediate mathematical knowledge – markups, counting inventory, weight and measurement conversions, combining, calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and percentages.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong customer service, problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Office proficiency.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Business Central, SAP or other ERP systems and WMS.
- Demonstrate awareness of proper warehouse safety procedures.
- Experience with operational equipment (e.g. forklifts, RF scanners) required.
- Knowledge of Japanese foods and liquors preferred.
