Warehouse Team Leader

Location and hours

  • California Food Factory: 1850 Raymer Ave, Fullerton, CA, 92283 (N. Gilbert St and W. Commonwealth Ave.) | Sunday to Thursday: 7:00 am – 3:30 pm

Responsibilities

As a Warehouse Lead, you play a key role in overseeing and supporting the daily operations of our sushi distribution center. You lead by example to ensure accuracy, food safety, and efficiency in the receiving, storage, and distribution of temperature-controlled products. You coordinate warehouse activities, assist in training team members, and communicate closely with supervisors and other departments to ensure smooth product flow and timely deliveries.

You are a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced, refrigerated environment, maintains high standards for quality and food safety, and promotes teamwork and safety at all times.

  • Lead and support daily warehouse operations, including receiving, picking, staging, and shipping of sushi and other perishable products.
  • Assign and monitor work to warehouse team members to ensure productivity, accuracy, and quality standards are met.
  • Verify accuracy of incoming and outgoing shipments; ensure proper labelling, temperature checks, and documentation are completed.
  • Maintain product integrity through proper handling, rotation (FIFO), and storage procedures in accordance with food safety standards.
  • Support and participate in daily and weekly inventory counts; investigate and report discrepancies promptly.
  • Ensure warehouse organization, cleanliness, and compliance with HACCP, GMP, and health and safety regulations.
  • Operate forklifts and pallet jacks to load, unload, move, and stage raw materials, packaging, and finished sushi products.
  • Coordinate with Production, Purchasing, and Logistics to maintain accurate product flow and meet delivery schedules.
  • Train new team members on standard operating procedures (SOPs), food handling practices, and safety protocols.
  • Provide feedback to management regarding team performance, attendance, or process improvements.
  • Lead by example in promoting a positive, collaborative, and safety-first culture within the warehouse.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a food distribution, cold storage, or warehouse environment (lead experience preferred).
  • Valid forklift certification or ability to obtain certification (company-provided training may be available).
  • Strong understanding of warehouse operations, including receiving, order picking, shipping, and inventory control.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards (HACCP, GMP, FIFO) and temperature-controlled storage requirements.
  • Proven leadership and communication skills; ability to coach, motivate, and lead a team.
  • Able to lift up to 23 kg (50 lb) and work in refrigerated environments.
  • Basic computer literacy and familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) preferred.
  • Comfortable with basic math and recordkeeping.
  • Flexible to work various shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.
