Position Summary: The Maintenance Technician Lead- Level 6 is responsible for performing advanced, multi-craft maintenance and repair on complex production equipment. This role involves diagnosing, troubleshooting, testing, and repairing a wide range of machinery to ensure optimal performance. In addition to hands-on technical work, the Lead Technician plays a key role in reporting equipment issues, conducting failure analyses, and partnering with the Maintenance Planner to evaluate and enhance the effectiveness of preventive maintenance programs. This position also serves as a mentor and coach, providing training and guidance to lower-level maintenance technicians. The primary objective is to ensure all assigned manufacturing areas consistently meet or exceed the operational standards required for lithium-ion cell production.
Essential Duties:
Preventative Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
- Perform preventive maintenance on machinery and mechanical equipment including subassemblies, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines by following Maintenance Process Instructions (MPIs), diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical and electrical issues using observation, diagnostic tools, and precision measuring instruments
- Identify faulty operations or defective materials and escalate concerns as needed
- Adjust or replace functional parts using appropriate tools (e.g., hoists, cranes, levels, plumb bobs, straightedges), inspecting form function and condition of parts
- Recommend and implement machine modifications and process improvements to ensure efficiency and reduce downtime
- Proactively support the elimination of unexpected equipment breakdowns
Training & Knowledge Sharing:
- Train and mentor lower-level Maintenance Technicians and peers within the functional area on proper maintenance procedures, safety practices, and troubleshooting techniques
- Provide maintenance knowledge and technical support by responding to questions and assisting with issue resolution
Team Collaboration & Communication:
- Collaborate with Maintenance, Production, Engineering, and cross-functional teams to maintain PECNA manufacturing equipment and to resolve equipment-related issues
- Work closely with the Japanese Technical Advisor (TA) and Engineering team to troubleshoot complex problems and share knowledge
- Share preventative maintenance techniques with production personnel to help control downtime
- Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions taken, irregularities encountered, and ongoing needs
Documentation & Compliance:
- Maintain accurate records of completed work and equipment maintenance using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
- Follow and help develop Standard Work and Maintenance Process Instructions (MPIs), including creating documentation where none exists
- Support compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications, by properly implementing documented processes and procedures
Workplace Safety & Organization:
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment by following all procedures, rules, and regulations, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) practices and 6S standards
- Clean, inventory, stock, and maintain tools, equipment, and work areas to support ongoing operational readiness
Tool & Equipment Operation:
- Operate and maintain tools and equipment within the functional area responsibly, conserving maintenance resources and ensuring efficient use of materials
General Responsibilities:
- Monitor inventory levels of parts and supplies; anticipate and communicate future needs
- Read assembly, electrical, and hydraulic prints as well as parts exploded views
- Determine changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts: using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments
- Contribute to team efforts by performing related tasks as needed and supporting all scheduled shift hours as required
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements:
- To ensure the health and safety in the workplace and for the protection of our employees,’ wearing PPE is a possibility and includes equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator fit testing. Pre-employment respirator fit test will be required based on functional area.

Qualifications: Requirements – Required and/or Preferred
Education
- Required: High school diploma, GED, or 2 years of prior experience in functional area
- Preferred: Associate degree or higher in a technical field (e.g., Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Electrical Technology)
Essential Qualifications
- 7.5+ years of experience in a maintenance role within a manufacturing environment, or equivalent experience as a PECNA Maintenance Technician – Level 5 or Skilled Machine Technician – Level 5
- Successful completion of Ramsay mechanical or electrical assessment testing
- Proven experience performing preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on manufacturing equipment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally at all levels and demonstrate sensitivity to customer needs and delivery timelines
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and quickly adapt to new tools and concepts
- Demonstrated problem-solving, team collaboration, and technical troubleshooting capabilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Basic math skills and the ability to perform standard calculations
- Working-level proficiency in English (reading, writing, and speaking)
- Availability to work weekends and/or overtime as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in a maintenance role within a manufacturing environment
- Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems)
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles or continuous improvement practices
- Experience working in a cleanroom or high-spec manufacturing environment (e.g., lithium-ion battery, semiconductor, or medical device)
- Knowledge of safety protocols including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), NFPA 70E, and 6S or 5S systems
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic schematics and blueprints
- Experience leading or mentoring maintenance teams in a leadership or senior technician capacity
- Superior communication and people skills
- Resilient, self-motived and able to work well under pressure
