The Position
The City of Beaverton has an exciting opportunity for a versatile, energetic, and organized person to join our Neighborhood and Public Involvement team. The NPI team connects Beaverton residents with one another and with their city government through innovative community engagement strategies and outreach. If you’re energized by working with a diverse community and enjoy a job where no two weeks are the same, please apply!
As the Public Involvement Program Coordinator, you’ll engage community volunteers and help them turn their ideas into action, through administering the City’s Neighborhood Matching Grant program (think park concerts, tree planting, or other neighborhood engagement activities). You’ll support and attend neighborhood events and provide leadership training. You’ll also coordinate with colleagues in other departments across the city to help them effectively engage residents and promote inclusive and accessible public participation and input on topics from recycling to the city budget.

- An excellent communicator who can turn out a newsletter article or social media post on topics from emergency preparedness to land use. Public speaking doesn’t faze you.
- Highly collaborative: you take pleasure in working with colleagues around the city-from the Library to the Police Department-to develop ways to engage and educate community members.
- A technology jack-of-all-trades: you’ll identify the right tech tools for the job and make them work for you, whether that’s tracking volunteer hours in a database, pulling a report in Excel, setting up and hosting a Zoom meeting, or creating a PowerPoint to explain a complex idea visually.
- A connector who can identify community resources and bring them together, from individual community members to businesses and nonprofits.
- Well organized and able to manage a variety of projects and events, while responding to inquiries and requests from coworkers and the public.
Candidates who are bilingual in one or more of Beaverton’s priority languages (Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Spanish, and Vietnamese) are strongly encouraged to apply!
