Job Duties:

The UW-River Falls College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) maintains a pool of qualified candidates from which part-time staff may be drawn to fill vacancies on a temporary basis in various departments and disciplines. Successful applicants become members of a pool of temporary instructional academic staff eligible to teach, based upon the needs of the department, funding and availability of the prospective staff member.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses, including assessment of student performance
  • Develops instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction
  • Serves as an initial point of contact for students as it relates to specific course or series content and expectations

Lecturers may be hired in the following areas:

  • Art
  • Biology
  • Chemistry & Biotechnology
  • Communication & Media Studies (Communication Studies, Journalism, Marketing Communications)
  • Computer, Information and Data Sciences
  • English (English, ESL, TESOL)
  • History and Philosophy
  • Mathematics
  • Modern Language (Spanish, German, Japanese)
  • Music & Stage and Screen Arts
  • Physics
  • Politics, Geography, and International Studies
  • Psychological Sciences
  • Sociology, Criminology and Anthropology

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of one year teaching experience
  • Experience in area of expertise
  • Additional qualifications may be required dependent on the department or area

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Teaching experience at the college level

Education:

  • Master’s or terminal degree in related discipline is required
