A Japanese Publishing Company is currently looking for a full time, hybrid English-Japanese Bilingual Correspondent to join their New York location.

This position is responsible for reporting on and writing news stories and relevant information, frequently related to the US and global economies through collecting and analyzing information relevant to newsworthy events through interviews, investigations, data analysis, and other observation methods.

The role may involve attending press conferences independently, traveling to other parts of the country, and collaborating with reporters in other locations, including bureaus in the Americas and in Tokyo.

DOE and skills, the pay range for this position would be between the 58k-70k with great benefits.

Your essential duties would include the following:

– Working with other correspondents as a member of the reporting team to enhance the overall value of the company’s content and contribute to executing the operations of the Editorial Department as a whole, in accordance with instructions from the Editor-in-Chief and senior members of the team.
– Writing, producing, and editing content for publications and news content distribution services, including internet editions and newspapers.
– Researching, conducting verification, and performing fact-checking and related activities to improve the quality of news reporting, including collecting, organizing, and analyzing information using spreadsheet software and other tools employed in the Editorial Department.
– Report news, particularly related to microeconomics in an accurate and timely manner, while providing analysis and perspectives to readers.
– Building and maintaining unique relationships with industry experts, leaders, government officials, and other relevant sources.
– Remaining informed on a wide range of U.S. economic, political, social, and cultural issues by attending press conferences and events, connecting with  unique contacts, etc.

– Serving as a liaison to facilitate communication with the public relations departments and other departments of coverage targets.
– Performing other duties relevant to the Editorial Department as needed.

Please consider the following qualifications when applying:

– Strong sense of journalistic integrity and professionalism
– Proficiency in English and Japanese (the role requires writing news stories in Japanese)
– Solid knowledge of and keen interest in American affairs
– Ability to consistently produce high-quality output with minimum error under tight deadlines
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to quickly grasp supervisor’s instructions and to keep supervisor informed of work status and progress
– Proficiency in basic software applications including Word and Excel
– Adequate compute literacy to learn and use current and future software applications and digital devices currently used by the company
– Willingness to perform additional editorial tasks as needed

Minimum USD Salary: 58000
Maximum USD Salary: 70000
