Job Title: Controller

Pay Range: 130,000 – 150,000/annually / Full-Time

About the Role:

The Controller plays a pivotal role in the financial management of our hospitality, tourism, and recreation operations. This position is responsible for overseeing all financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting activities to ensure the organization’s financial health and compliance with regulations. The Controller will lead a team of finance professionals, providing guidance and support to enhance their skills and performance. Additionally, this role will collaborate with other departments to align financial strategies with operational goals, driving overall business success. Ultimately, the Controller will contribute to informed decision-making by providing accurate financial insights and recommendations to senior management.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a financial management role, preferably within the hospitality or restaurant industry.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration or Finance.
  • CPA or CMA certification.
  • Experience with financial software and ERP systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Develop and manage the annual budget process, including forecasting and variance analysis.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial reporting.
  • Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Collaborate with department heads to provide financial insights that support strategic planning and operational efficiency.

Skills:

The required skills for this role include strong analytical abilities, which are essential for interpreting financial data and making informed decisions. Excellent communication skills are necessary to effectively convey financial information to non-financial stakeholders and collaborate with various departments. Leadership skills are crucial for managing and developing the finance team, ensuring they are equipped to meet the organization’s financial goals. Proficiency in financial software enhances efficiency in reporting and analysis, allowing for timely insights.

Preferred skills – Advanced Excel capabilities and experience with ERP systems, will further streamline financial processes and improve overall accuracy.
