This pool is for assignments for the 2024/2025 school year.
Please note that on 9/28/2021, the Board of Education mandated the COVID-19 vaccination as a requirement for employment. The San Diego Unified School District accepts applications for Elementary Dual Language Teachers on a continuous basis for regular full-time and part-time assignments. This is a continuous recruitment which will be used to establish an ongoing eligibility list and passing screened applicants will be offered the opprtunity to substitute as well. Candidates who wish to teach French, Mandarin or Spanish should apply to this pool. San Diego Unified is looking for dual language teachers in an elementary dual language immersion setting.
This pool is for individuals who:
- MUST hold a valid multiple subject teaching credentials with a BCLAD (bilingual authorization) in Spanish, French, Madarin, or
- are enrolled in a college/university to attain a teaching credential, or
- are intern eligible through their college or university, or
- are eligible for a short-term staffing permit (see CCTC requirements).

Examples of Duties
A Dual Language Teacher develops and implements lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district’s curriculum program. The duties of this position include but are not limited to the following:
- Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Board of Education and administrative regulations.
- Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
- Encourage pupils to think independently and to express original ideas.
- Create classroom environments conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social and emotional development of students.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials and equipment, including instructional media.
- Assess student progress on objectives, expectations, and/or goals and provide feedback to students, parents, and administration.

Supplemental Information
Application Process: To be eligible for consideration, interested candidates must submit the following:

- Response to the supplemental questionnaire
- Cover Letter and resume
- A copy of a valid teaching credential, proof of enrollment in a credentialing program (candidates must be scheduled to graduate within 6 months), proof of intern eligibility, or proof of short-term staffing permit eligibility.
- Contact information for three professional references must be listed under the ‘References’ section of the application. References should be from a current or previous supervisor. References from a supervising teacher or professor are acceptable when there is no relevant prior work history. We will be reaching out to your professional reference contacts in the screening process of this application.
- A copy of written reference letters within the last two years is desirable
Required documents must be attached to the online employment application to be considered. The supplemental questions should be answered thoroughly, clearly and concisely as the responses provided (along with the entire application package) will be carefully reviewed to determine which candidates will move forward in the recruitment process. The examination process will consist of an application screening based on the candidate’s education, work history and responses to the supplemental questions. Professional References will be contacted for candidates that are selected to proceed in the examination process. Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications are not guaranteed advancement through any subsequent phase of the examination. Candidates selected to proceed in the examination process will be invited to an interview. Applicants who pass the examination process will be placed on an eligible list for a period of one year. The eligible list will be used to fill vacancies at various school sites.
