The Account Manager will report to the Lead Sales Manager with the primary responsibility of promoting, selling, and securing new business. Target customers, programs, and identifies new opportunities for business growth. Develops and cultivates relationships with customers, assists with quality issues, and visits customers. Works with engineering to develop, monitor, and manage all programs and projects. Prepares and updates customer sales forecasts, marketing plans, and generates new business opportunities. Generate proposals, cost estimates, and presentations for both internal and external purposes.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Identify new opportunities and convert into new business unit sales for both existing and new customers.
- Develop, implement, and deliver sales and product presentations tailored to customers as appropriate.
- Coordinate product development and launches working with engineering to ensure new products meet customer expectations, specifications, and timing requirements
- Prepare and maintain annual sales forecasts and monthly Program Status Report (PSR) reports for assigned accounts.
- Maintain direct contact and interfaces with customer engineering, product development, and purchasing organizations to ensure ITW participation in new programs.
- Provide exceptional customer service dealing with issues including but not limited to delivery, product quality, payments, product design, and pricing.
- Conduct reviews on accounts on regular basis to evaluate our customers and whether the products and prices satisfy their needs, as well as the organization’s objectives.
- Update management regarding account risks and opportunities recommending actions to mitigate risk and exploit opportunities.
- Participate in the development of strategies, goals, and plans.
- Achieve or exceed sales and profit margin goals and objectives.
- Perform necessary administrative work as required.
- Demonstrate personal effectiveness and leadership that creates a culture of high performance.
- Nurture an environment consistent with the ITW values and culture.
- Maintain compliance with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and OH&S standards.
- Comply with all company safety and environmental policies & management systems.
Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business/engineering & 3-7 Years’ work experience in a field related to managing the business of a company manufacturing engineered products.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Strong listening skills.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications.
- Understanding manufacturing processes with injection molding experience.
- Knowledgeable with quoting, negotiations, and product profitability contributors.
- Proven ability to deal with changes in a business environment, generate respect and trust from staff and external customers.
- Knowledgeable with sales and marketing functions.
- Adept at analyzing data, facts, and issues to arrive at best possible outcome.
- Strong PC skills with intermediate proficiency in MS Office programs.
- Travel to customers, vendors, and trade shows with occasional travel internationally possible. Willing to travel up to 60%.
- Understanding of how Japanese OEM’s operate organizationally and culturally will be a plus but not required.
