Lead and supervise QC Laboratories to ensure the implementation and sustainability of Operational Excellence. Effectively manage resources and collaborate to ensure that laboratory operations are safe, compliant, reliable and timely according to the requirements of internal and external customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical oversight and stewardship for quality control operations. Ensure the activities for which they are responsible are conducted scientifically and are consistent with compliance requirements
  • Identify resources needed for areas of responsibility, organize emerging priorities, and maintain continuous communication with Quality Assurance, Production, and Technical Services, among others. Additionally, oversee the hiring process for Laboratory personnel as necessary.
  • Responsible for the execution of Performance Management process for direct reports, including establishing goals, monitoring and elevating performance, and people development.
  • Promote and lead the operational excellence culture (i.e. safety, environmental & quality) culture plan for Laboratories.
  • Establish short- and long-term compliance with business expectations and implement metrics to monitor the quality and efficiency of the laboratory
  • Ensure lab assets and facilities are maintained and fit for use. Develop asset replacement strategy for laboratory assets and facilities.
  • Interact with internal (within Lilly del Caribe and Network) and external laboratories to understand and implement best practices and processes.
  • Work with production to ensure the development of systems that facilitate the flow of work and help laboratories to meet customer needs.
  • Ensure compliance with the regulations that apply to the area from the perspective of Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental.
  • Interact with regulatory agencies during inspections. Ensure compliance with all procedures, methods, and regulations and that laboratory personnel have the necessary training to play their role.
  • Ensure personnel are properly trained to ensure compliance and right- capabilities are in place.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor or master’s degree in Chemistry
  • 3+ years of experience supervising laboratory operations or in related technical field
  • Fully bilingual (English and Spanish)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Provide support to a 24/7 operation when required, (irregular hours, shifts rotation, weekends, holidays, emergencies).

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$108,000 – $158,400

Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
