What You’ll Do:

As a Routing Engineer within our Electrical Systems department, your primary responsibility will be the design and packaging of wire harness components. You’ll ensure that our electrical systems meet stringent quality, performance, cost, and timing requirements across various vehicle and mobility platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate extensively with internal, external, and international stakeholders across cross-functional teams to design packaging structures, prepare detailed drawings, and meticulously plan and manage schedules for complex engineering problems.
  • Manage and lead part development to consistently meet targets for cost, mass, performance, and schedule, maintaining a high standard of quality, efficiency, and optimization from project inception through to the start of production.
  • Maintain excellent, clear, and frequent communication with all internal and external stakeholders, including management, project leaders, manufacturing, suppliers, other design departments, and international partners.
  • Develop 3D design data using CATIA v5 and create precise 2D drawings using Zuken E3 (CR5000) CAD software.
  • Utilize a structured problem-solving process (e.g., TBP) to break down complex issues and actively contribute to Obeya meetings with other commodity engineers, wire harness supplier engineers, and vehicle assembly members.
  • Prepare essential process documentation using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support department objectives.
  • Some overtime may be required to meet project demands.

What You’ll Bring:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in an Engineering discipline (Electrical or Mechanical preferred).
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience collaborating effectively with suppliers.
  • 5+ years of vehicle development experience.
  • 4+ years of demonstrated abilities in planning/scheduling, multi-tasking, and engaging with multiple stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in CATIA v5 for 3D data and drawing preparation.
  • Fundamental understanding of the vehicle development process.
  • Fundamental understanding of the vehicle manufacturing process.
  • Fundamental understanding of wire harness manufacturing processes and related design challenges.
  • Experience supporting a production vehicle trial.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Documented problem-solving experience, with the ability to effectively solve problems and communicate solutions.

Valued Qualifications (What You May Bring):

  • Experience with Toyota (or similar OEM) in all stages of vehicle development (Full Model Change or Major-Minor model change).
  • Proficiency in leading variable workforce and/or Design-In members.
  • Deep understanding of wire harness development and/or manufacturing processes.
  • Experience negotiating with cross-functional departments.
  • Experience in the design of electrical systems/parts, including wire harness routing, wire specification issuance, or vehicle electrical architecture.
  • Japanese language capability.

Work Environment & Engagement:

  • Location: This position is based in India and follows a hybrid work model, requiring at least 3 days per week working in the office and 2 days working from home.
  • Reporting: You will report to a Senior Engineering Manager within the ES2 department.
