ESSENTIAL DUTIES in Delicatessen Assistant Department Lead! (responsibilities include, but are not limited to):

l Managing a team of employees along with the Store Management Team

l Scheduling of employees (approving/rejecting time off request etc.)

l Placing daily/weekly orders with the guidance of the Store Management Team

l Computer skills (using spreadsheets, placing orders, making schedule, etc)

l Managing multiple departments along with the Store Management Team (Sushi, Kitchen, In-Store Bakery, and Vendor Bakery)

l Processing, cutting, and packaging Delica items

l Maintains a well-organized back stock/cooler area

l Cook hot foods (Deli, bakery, and Japanese food)

l Food Preparation

l Follow recipes and must accurately measure ingredients

l Maintains good communication with Store Management, associates and suppliers/vendors

l Maintaining cleanliness of the store/ store upkeep

l Ensuring proper presentation of our Delica items along with providing a smile, greeting, and assisting customers who visit our Store.

l Ensures Delica items are handled, stocked, rotated and merchandised

l Checks product temperature to ensure freshness and quality

l Ability to maintain a knife grip in order to cut Delica items to specification

l Ability to weigh, price, label, organize and rotate Delica products per Company standards

l Unloading Delica Items upon vendor deliveries

l Unpacking and stocking Delica and sushi items

l Must clean and sanitize work areas

Customer Service:

l Providing premier customer service, including greeting them and responding to questions

l Engaging in suggestive selling and other sales techniques

l Meets or exceeds Department’s sales goals assigned through the efficient execution of Company policies and procedures

l Maintains cleanliness of work area, storage area, and selling floor

l Ensures a safe and clean work environment

Cross Training:

l Store Support Associates exemplify teamwork and are open to and willing to be trained and step in when needed in all departments and similar skilled areas for filling and development opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

l High School Diploma or GED equivalent

l Must be 18 or older to use sharp knives, use ladders, scaffolds or their substitutes, substitutes above 6 feet in height, and to operate or assist in operating power-driven machinery or equipment.

l Must be able to use job related equipment such as slicer, scale, saw, knife and wrapper

l A minimum of 1-2 years of work experience in a similar work environment is preferred

l Experience as a Delicatessen Lead is preferred

l Possess a CA Food Handling license or the ability to acquire one

l Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds without aid

l Exposure to potential hazards exists with respect to equipment and work aides necessary to perform job duties. Hands are in frequent contact with water and various fruits and vegetables while performing job duties.

REQUIREMENTS:

l Comfortable with working in a kitchen environment

l Must be able to operate related equipment such as knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks and hand trucks

l Must be able to follow recipes and accurately measure ingredients

l Able to deliver friendly, courteous, prompt customer service

l Able to read, write, and do simple math problems

l Able to interpret, understand and follow instructions

l Ability to effectively communicate and respond to questions from the general public and management

l Ability to interact with all levels of management

l Has or willing to obtain a CA Food Handler’s Certificate
