SUMMARY
Project Management: Ensures acceptable results from third-party machine builders including schedules, designs, safety, and quality.
Equipment/Process Design: Creates new equipment designs and modification to existing equipment. Creates qualification plans, performs builds and analyzes data.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Collaborate with third-party machine builders to create workstations and production lines. May involve significant time spent at machine builder’s location.
- Create machine and process specifications.
- Create and modify parts and assemblies in SolidWorks.
- Create and implement Design of Experiment procedures and analyses.
- Research and implement new equipment and processes.
- Maintain complete safety and environmental compliance.
- Prepare and maintain manufacturing process documentation (SOP’s, PS’s and equipment manuals).Plan, design and justify manufacturing tooling machinery, and equipment.
- Assist R&D in performing engineering pilot builds.
- Refine and develop manufacturing processes to achieve quality and rate defined in the process specifications.
- Implement manufacturing plans and procedures for new product introduction.
- Provide training for manufacturing operators and technicians.
- Must be able to successfully work with minimal supervision.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Minimum educational and experience requires a Bachelor’s degree in engineering and 5 years’ experience in a related field. (Pyrotechnics experience is highly desired). A combination of education and formal demonstrated experience beyond the minimum requirements may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and manufacturing instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees. Ability to read, write, and speak Japanese is a plus.

Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in written and diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Must be able to understand and apply DSSA Inc. documentation including SOP, MI, PS, PMP, MER, PFD, etc.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to lighting and temperature as required for the manufacturing area. Appropriate safety equipment is required by area. There is potential exposure to hazardous chemicals. A considerable amount of walking from department to department may occur in unfavorable weather conditions. The employee is exposed to the inherent dangers of the explosive materials used in DSSA Inc.’s manufacturing processes.
Must be available and able to travel both domestically and internationally for extended periods of time.
