GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for researching, compiling, providing information on the Japan Travel and its entry restrictions to existing and prospective customers in a timely manner to support smooth and efficient operations of the JTB’s Business Travel, In-house and Meetings & Events teams. Job Duties include distributing travel information using the various SNS platforms in order to acquire more customers. The incumbent is also expected to directly provide both Japanese nationals and non-Japanese visitors who are traveling to Japan with information, supports and troubleshooting via email and phone calls.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Research on Travel information (% of Time Spent: %)

  • Gathers and researches information related to travel to Japan and its entry restriction in a timely manner.
  • Provides a travel advice to both Japanese nationals and non-Japanese visitors regarding entry restrictions in Japan.
  • Compiles the Japan travel and entry restriction information and share with the internal business associates.
  • Provides information on Japan travel and entry restrictions to customers via email/phone calls.
  • Timely distributes the Japan travel and entry restriction information to prospective customers using email, SNS, and webinars.
  • Works closely with the Japan Marketing Department (JMD) to achieve JMD’s sales objectives by sharing information and providing assistance.
  • Corresponds with customers and answer inquiries, provides suggestions and/or makes sales via emails and phone calls.
  • Creates and proposes services and products that meet customer needs.
  • Prepares and submits a weekly report on activities, market trends and other requested subjects to management.

FIT Travel Arrangement & Sales (% of Time Spent: %)

  • Corresponds with clients and answers enquiries, provides suggestions and/or makes sales via email and phone calls.
  • Makes travel arrangements such as hotels, transportation, Sunrise Tours, JR Pass, Ghibli tickets, airfare, and cruises for agencies and corporate customers.
  • Conducts sales promotion activities such as sales calls to agencies, flyer promotions, media advertisements and so forth.
  • Provides various travel information to customers such as destinations, fares and travel regulations.

Other Duties:

  • Seeks constant improvement, more efficient and less expensive ways and means in work processes.
  • Performs special projects and other miscellaneous duties as assigned by your managers.
  • Maintains high ethical standards in the workplace.
  • Reports all irregular issues and problems to your superiors for solutions.
  • Maintains good communication with your superiors, office staff members and outside contacts.
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working area.

Education and Experience

  • Possesses 0-1 years of experience in the travel industry, or equivalent skills.
  • Possesses 2-3 years of experience of social media management experience.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Excellent research, reding comprehension and writing skills in both English and Japanese language.
  • Possesses basic knowledge and skills to perform day-to-day responsibilities.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Working Hours:

  • Normal business hours between 8:45 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.,
  • May be required to work after normal business hours and weekends.

Working Environment:

  • Work is performed in an air-conditioned office environment.
  • Work can be performed remotely but may be required to report to the Los Angeles Office two times per month or as required.
  • Infrequent (two times per year) domestic travel by air is required.
  • Subject to varying atmospheric conditions, up to and including, noise, pollution, dust, fumes and vehicle exhaust.

  • General office equipment including phones, fax, copier, personal computer, scanner, etc.
  • Software includes the use of Windows operating system, MS Office 365
  • Various Social Media Platforms (Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.)
