Keller Executive Search
We are an innovative hydroponic farming company revolutionizing agriculture with advanced technology, producing high-quality fruits for various markets across the U.S. We are seeking a Head of Finance to join our executive team in New Jersey during a key growth phase. The Head of Finance will manage financial operations, develop financial strategies, lead fundraising efforts, and ensure regulatory compliance to support the organization’s expansion.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with company goals.
- Create a long-term equity story and financing strategy with the CEO.
- Establish capital deployment and fund management strategies for growth.
- Prepare for IPO readiness.
- Lead fundraising efforts.
- Craft pitch decks and investor materials.
- Represent the company in investor meetings and build relationships with financial institutions.
- Develop IR function primarily in Japan with potential global expansion.
- Oversee financial operations, including accounting and budgeting, for US and Japan entities.
- Manage and develop the finance team across both countries.
- Implement financial controls, policies, and procedures.
- Drive cost awareness and manage runway effectively.
- Collaborate with the executive team on overall business strategy.
- Lead risk management and develop financial risk mitigation strategies.
- Negotiate contracts for favorable terms.
- Prepare the organization for a potential IPO.
Requirements
- Fluent in Japanese
- Proficient in English
- More than 15 years of comprehensive experience in the finance sector, including Investment Banking, Private Equity, and Banking.
- Experience in business sales and/or participation in Initial Public Offering (IPO) processes.
- A professional background in industries such as manufacturing, agriculture, or venture capital-backed startups.
- A demonstrated history of securing significant capital, exceeding $100 million.
- Expertise in creating equity and debt structures for businesses with high capital requirements.
- Capability to work effectively in cross-cultural business environments, particularly between the US and Japan.
- Experience serving as a CFO or holding a similar executive finance leadership role.
- Specialization in strategic finance, encompassing budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling.
- Experience in fundraising activities from Series A to pre-IPO phases.
- Operational capabilities, with experience as a COO considered a plus.
- 20% travel – Visit the Japan R&D center.
