Job Description

The Information Security Intern will be responsible for coordinating and executing an evaluation of MEAU’s information security policies and practices against ISO 27001 standards. This person will work closely with our IT team to identify areas for improvement and assist in implementing and recommending necessary changes. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in information security and contribute to meaningful changes that improve our organization’s security posture.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:
• Research and obtain a working knowledge of the primary benchmarks for ISO 27001 information security standards.
• Conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the company’s current security practices against ISO 27001 benchmarks.
• Identify gaps and areas for improvement in our security measures.
• Work with IT staff to develop and implement action plans to address identified gaps.
• Assist in the documentation and maintenance of security policies and procedures.
• Deliver project summary presentation to MEAU leadership upon culmination of the program.

Supervisory / Management Responsibilities
• No direct reports.

• No travel required.

Essential Education, Skills and Experience
• Pursuit of a degree in Information Security, Cybersecurity, Computer Science or a related field.
• Basic understanding of ISO 27001 or other published information security standards.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining high standards of accuracy and quality.

• TCP/IP networking
• Knowledge of the Japanese culture as it pertains to business conduct and communication

Physical, Environmental, Cognitive Requirements
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time (sitting)
• Capable of repetitive motion (wrist, typing, mouse usage)

The listed salary range is approximate and reflects the anticipated compensation for this position as determined by salary analysis; both internal and external to MEAU. Final compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s qualifications, skills and experience. Compensation may also vary due to market factors. MEAU retains the right to adjust compensation based on business needs.

Expected Salary: $20/hr – $25/hr
