The World Languages department at CWU is accepting applications to fill current and future full-time and part-time appointment lecturer positions to teach classes in the courses/subject areas listed below. This list is not all inclusive: other courses/subject areas may become available within the department.

American Sign Language – 1st and 2nd year Courses
Chinese – 1st and 2nd year Courses
French – 1st and 2nd year Courses
German – 1st and 2nd year Courses
Japanese – 1st and 2nd year Courses
Korean -1st and 2nd year courses (online)
Latin – 1st and 2nd year Courses
Russian – 1st and 2nd year Courses
Spanish – 1st and 2nd year Courses

The Department of World Languages offers coursework in:
American Sign Language
Latin
Chinese
German

(Asterisk indicates languages in which a student can major or minor)

  • Master’s Degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated teaching effectiveness at the college level

Pay & Work Schedule

Pay: Based on the terms and conditions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement .
The minimum remuneration for the non-tenure-track titles for the 2025-2026 academic year will be as follows:
(a) Lecturer: $1,188 per workload unit for faculty with terminal degrees; $950 per workload unit for faculty without terminal degrees.
(b) Senior Lecturer: $1,307 per workload unit for faculty with terminal degrees; $1,044 per workload unit for faculty without terminal degrees.

Additional Information: This announcement will be used to develop a pool of applicants for positions in the department of World Languages through March 2026. There is a possibility that selected applicants may be called on short notice to fill lecturer vacancies on a quarter-by-quarter basis.

Screening of applications begins immediately and will continue as needed. The number of lecturer positions filled varies from quarter to quarter, depending upon the needs of the department. Positions typically start at the beginning of an academic quarter. Your application will be maintained in this pool for consideration through March 2026.
