Nitto, Inc. (Nitto) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Nitto Denko Corporation, a leading chemical manufacturer with global operations and approximately $7 billion in revenue. Nitto’s Legal Department supports Nitto’s businesses in North and South America, including in the energy materials, industrial tapes, environmental solutions, optronics, aerospace, automotive, and life sciences markets. This role will report to the Head of Legal and will be based out of our Teaneck, New Jersey office. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented team player to support Nitto’s Legal Department. The ideal candidate will have experience in corporate law, contract management, and general legal support in an in-house environment or law firm. This role offers an opportunity to work closely with attorneys and internal and external stakeholders on a wide range of legal matters and risk management initiatives, to contribute towards the company’s compliance goals and protecting its interests.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Legal Research & Document Preparation: Conduct legal research and assist in drafting, reviewing, and editing various legal documents, including memos, management reports, policies and procedures.
- Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) System Management: Oversee the efficient operation of Nitto’s CLM system to ensure that the platform is being used effectively across the organization throughout the contract lifecycle. This includes correcting information that is entered incorrectly by humans or artificial intelligence to improve reporting, and user support and training.
- Support Contract Management: Assist in managing the contract lifecycle, including submitting contracts with the Legal Department’s vendors or pertaining to confidential matters into CLM, reviewing, tracking, searching, and organizing contracts, generating reports, and ensuring coordination with key stakeholders for timely renewals or terminations.
- Corporate Entity Management: Gather the necessary information for Legal or outside counsel to perform minimum contacts analyses for indicated entities. Maintain the records of corporate entities across various jurisdictions, including filing annual reports, renewals, and other necessary documents with state and federal authorities. This includes gathering the necessary minimum contacts information for each entity. Oversee Nitto’s entity management system and registered agent to ensure all entities stay in good standing with relevant regulatory agencies.
- Intellectual Property: Support patent counsel with maintaining and updating the company’s patent portfolio, ensuring that all patent filings, renewals, and assignments are recorded accurately. Manage docketing systems to track critical patent deadlines and ensure timely filings.
- Risk Management: Support the Legal Department in identifying potential legal risks and work with other departments to mitigate and resolve them proactively. This also includes supporting the Legal Department with its corporate insurance portfolio projects, and related insurance policy renewals, management, certificates of insurance, claims processing, and premium audits
- Administrative Support: Organize and maintain legal files and documents (electronic and paper), track deadlines, and coordinate with internal departments as needed for legal matters. Assist with administrative support inclusive of organizing meetings, processing invoices and expense reporting.
- Cross-Functional Liaison: Serve as a point of contact for internal stakeholders on routine legal inquiries and assist with day-to-day operational legal matters.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s degree or a paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program required.
Experience Needed:
- Minimum of 4 years of proven experience as a paralegal.
- Proficiency in legal research tools and contract lifecycle management systems.
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with all levels in the organization.
- Proven experience working successfully in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Bilingual in English and Japanese preferred.
- Superuser in Microsoft Office suite
