Who We’re Looking For
Toyota’s Integrated Vehicle Systems Department is seeking a passionate and highly motivated Technician Supervisor to help advance vehicle development activities through strong leadership, technical excellence, and an uncompromising commitment to safety. This team plays a critical role in supporting vehicle evaluation programs by providing the resources, equipment, facilities, and technical expertise that enable engineers and technicians to deliver innovative mobility solutions. The ideal candidate is a people-focused leader who enjoys developing talent while driving operational excellence.

Reporting to the Technician Manager, this role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on technical environment, enjoys mentoring others, and is energized by solving challenges that directly impact Toyota’s future vehicle development efforts.

What You’ll Be Doing
In this role, you’ll help shape the success of Toyota’s vehicle development programs by leading talented technicians, supporting critical evaluation activities, and ensuring projects are executed safely, efficiently, and on schedule. Success means building high-performing teams, developing technical capabilities, and enabling engineering groups to make informed decisions through accurate and timely evaluation results.

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of technicians, creating an environment focused on safety, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Mentor team members through technical guidance, career development, and stretch assignments that help them reach their full potential.
  • Coordinate evaluation schedules, resources, and daily activities to ensure vehicle development programs deliver high-quality results on time.
  • Partner with engineering teams to support vehicle and component evaluations that influence key product development decisions.
  • Track evaluation progress and performance metrics to ensure accurate, reliable, and timely data delivery to stakeholders.
  • Drive a strong safety culture by supporting Toyota Safety Management System activities, training programs, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead Automated Driving System training efforts that enhance technical capabilities and prepare teams for emerging vehicle technologies.
  • Manage department resources, including facilities, vehicles, tools, and equipment, to ensure operational readiness and efficient utilization.
  • Oversee equipment maintenance and calibration to support accurate, dependable testing operations.
  • Support business operations through purchasing coordination, workforce planning, budget support, and administrative approvals.

What You Bring

  • Associate’s degree in Automotive Technology or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience that provides a strong foundation in vehicle evaluation and testing.
  • 4+ years of experience performing vehicle evaluations in both static and dynamic testing environments to support product development activities.
  • 2+ years of experience planning, leading, or supporting vehicle and component evaluations while coordinating schedules, resources, and project execution.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle evaluation processes, testing methodologies, and technical problem-solving practices used in automotive development.
  • Experience applying Toyota standards, Toyota Business Practice (TBP), and structured continuous improvement approaches to achieve business objectives.
  • Working knowledge of Toyota Safety Management System processes, safety audits, and safety-focused operational practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for analyzing data, communicating findings, and supporting decision-making.
  • Valid driving record and willingness to travel up to 30% and work overtime as needed to support business requirements.

Added Bonus If You Have

  • Toyota Mid-Class licenses or higher that expand your ability to support a broader range of evaluation activities.
  • Advanced automotive diagnostic and repair experience that enables deeper technical troubleshooting and issue resolution.
  • Experience supporting evaluations of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) or Automated Driving Systems.
  • Team leadership experience, including onboarding, training, coaching, and developing technical team members.
  • Experience standardizing, documenting, and improving processes that enhance consistency, efficiency, and quality.
  • Strong experience in communication and collaboration with Japanese counterparts and global stakeholders.
  • Toyota Business Practice (TBP) completion and demonstrated application of TBP methodologies in real-world situations.
