Your Impact
• Achieve assigned sales and revenue targets for Canon’s optomechatronics products
• Develop new customers and applications through direct sales activities, prospecting, referrals, trade shows, webinars, and other lead-generation activities.
• Manage the full sales cycle, including opportunity development, technical discussions, quotations, negotiations, forecasting, and closing.
• Provide technical sales and application support for Canon products, including galvano scanners, measurement products, and astronomy-related optical products.
• Review and understand customer applications, technical requirements, specifications, and drawings, and recommend appropriate Canon products and solutions.
• Conduct customer presentations, technical discussions, product demonstrations, and initial troubleshooting.
• Coordinate with Canon engineering, manufacturing, and business teams in Japan to address technical questions, specifications, delivery requirements, and customer issues.
• Maintain an accurate sales pipeline and forecast and provide regular updates on opportunities, customer activities, risks, and competitive information.
• Identify market trends, competitive products, and new business opportunities and provide feedback to management and product teams.
• Represent Canon at customer visits, industry events, exhibitions, webinars, and technical conferences.
• Work independently while collaborating closely with sales support, engineering, marketing, and other Canon organizations.

About You: The Skills & Expertise You Bring

– Requires Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (engineering or a closely related technical field) or equivalent experience, plus 5 years of related experience (B2B sales or technical sales)
– Requires experience selling technical, industrial, or engineered products
– Business level proficiency in Japanese is strongly preferred
– Strong technical aptitude with ability to read and understand technical documentation, drawings, specifications
– Experience with new customer acquisition and business development
– Job requires an understanding of sales principles and tactics, and ability to effectively interface with customers.
– Strong communication, presentation, negotiation and problem solving skills.
– Must maintain a flexible work schedule.
– Ability to travel up to 20%, primarily within the U.S., with occasional international travel, including Japan
– This position requires driving, therefore a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record are necessary. Additionally, because this position requires driving for company business as an essential function of the job, must remain in compliance with company safety guidelines and policies

We are providing the anticipated salary range for this role: $76,150 – $114,040 annually. This role is eligible for commissions under the terms of an applicable plan.

Hybrid – This position is full time and offers a hybrid work schedule requiring you to be in the office three days a week and an option to work from home the remainder of the week (unless a specific business need arises requiring in office attendance on other days).
