POSITION SUMMARY: MLS has a requirement for an experienced local (Tokyo-based) Japanese language instructor to join a short-term (2.5 weeks) program in Tokyo, Japan in September 2024. Instructor will be responsible for teaching the students as well as being the onsite coordinator for the program.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Native proficiency in the target language (Japanese).
• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree.
• Knowledge of the culture and current events.
• Must be local in Tokyo.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience instructing Japanese to adult learners.

SECURITY CLEARANCE: None

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Native proficiency in the target language (Japanese).
• Native knowledge of the culture and current events.
• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience instructing adult government learners.
• Good knowledge of East Asian countries and area studies.
• Experience coordinating training programs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The position requires the candidate to stand for prolonged periods of time and participate in program-related activities.
