Location: Little Tokyo Service Center office + Terasaki Budokan + Angelina Apartments + Umeya/Crocker

Compensation: $19-22/Hourly rate

Hours: Part Time, Temporary, Non-Exempt position, 16 hours per week

Background:

For over 45 years, Little Tokyo Service Center (LTSC) has provided a safety net of social welfare and community development services to empower people and communities in need. LTSC provides culturally and linguistically appropriate services to the Japanese American community in the Southland, builds multi-family affordable housing projects to uplift low-income neighborhoods of color throughout Los Angeles, and promotes equitable development and cultural preservation in the Little Tokyo neighborhood.

Summary of Duties:

Working jointly with the Youth Services Coordinator and the Assistant Director of Resident Services, the Passenger Transport Operator (PTO), will be responsible for safely transporting students ages 6-18 years old, in a 7-passenger van. Students will be picked up from the Angelina Apartments and Umeya/Crocker Apartments and taken to the Terasaki Budokan for summer programming. At the end of programming the PTO will be responsible for transporting youth back to their respective buildings, Angelina and Umeya/Crocker Apartments. The PTO will be responsible for ensuring youth enter their buildings and/or wait for parents to arrive to pick up their student so that no student is left unattended.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop and adhere to a set route to and from the Angelina and Umeya/Crocker Apartment buildings to the Terasaki Budokan
  • Record daily attendance of students accessing transportation services
  • Communicate with students, safety guidelines as they enter the vehicle
  • Ensure all students are properly secured with seat belts and that all safety checks-including mirror adjustment and verification that all doors are securely closed-are completed before the vehicle is placed in motion
  • Ensure students remain seated while the vehicle is in motion.
  • Work with other Mi CASA team members to have printed safety guidelines displayed in the vehicle.
  • Communicate with supervisor any issues related to transportation, including students not adhering to vehicle safety guidelines, maintenance issues with vehicle, and route changes
  • Maintain a clean vehicle
  • Return vehicle to designated parking space at the end of the day
  • Support with refueling vehicle as needed
  • Other duties as may be assigned by your supervisor

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:

  • Possess a valid CA driver’s license
  • Possess a clean or acceptable driving record (few or no recent accidents, DUIs, or serious traffic violations).

Equivalent education or experience can be substituted for all minimum qualifications, except when legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration, are required.

Minimum USD hourly rate: 19.00
Maximum USD hourly rate: 22.00
